SCULPTURE OF PATTY BERG PRESENTED TO
PATTY BERG CANCER CENTER
BY ARTIST PAUL KAMISH
January 26, 2006 Fort Myers, FL … Artist Paul Kamish paid
tribute to the legendary golfer Patty Berg by presenting her
with his sculpture of her graceful swing at an event
honoring Ms. Berg at the Cypress Lake Country Club, on
Monday, January 23rd.
Over 200 of Ms. Berg’s friends attended the gathering on the
evening before the 29th annual Patty Berg Pro-Am golf
tournament. Local media as well as The Golf Channel, which
aired the presentation of the sculpture the following
evening on Golf Central, were on hand for the event.
Kamish’s previous works include sculptures that he presented
to two other golfing legends, Sam Snead and Gene Sarazen.

Kamish presented #1 of 60 of a limited edition series of
these sculptures to Patty Berg which will be displayed at
the
Patty Berg Cancer Center,
which is part of Southwest Florida Regional Medical Center.
The edition size was chosen in recognition of the 60 wins
she accumulated during her professional golf career. The
remaining pieces in the edition are available for purchase
to Patty Berg fans with a large portion of the proceeds
going to raise money for the Patty Berg Cancer.
While Kamish has a passion for art and for golf and its
history, presenting this sculpture to Patty Berg has an
added meaning. Kamish stated, “This is special for a number
of reasons. Being from the Twin Cities area, it is an honor
to meet this great fellow Minnesotan who achieved so much on
the golf course, but it also is her passion in the fight
against cancer that inspired me to create this sculpture.
Like so many others, I lost my mother to breast cancer five
years ago. I love to create art, and to combine that with
the opportunity to meet this great woman and to contribute
in some small way to raising funds and awareness that are
needed to fight cancer makes this a true pleasure for me.”
Officials at Southwest Florida Regional Medical Center are
overwhelmed by Kamish’s generosity. “Mr. Kamish’s work is
well-known, and we look forward to displaying his most
recent work – his sculpture of Patty Berg – in our cancer
center,” said hospital spokeswoman, Marti Van Veen.
